Please support the project of a statue to two prominent Mayors of Warsaw, Stefan Starzyński and Julian Spitosław Kulski.
Construction of the Vistula Boulevards was initiated before the Second World War by Stefan Starzyński, but the promenade between the Świętokrzyski Bridge and Śląsko-Dąbrowski Bridge opened only a few months ago. It is near the boulevards, at the entrance to the Royal Castle Gardens, that the statue to Mayors Stefan Starzyński and Julian S. Kulski is planned to be erected.

Our board of trustees has been working for many years to raise funds for a project by the sculptor Paweł Pietrusiński. The artist was inspired by a photograph of the two mayors taken 80 years ago that shows them visiting the Vistula Boulevards construction site. The photographer captured both mayors approaching the site, engrossed in a lively discussion, smiles on their faces. Presumably, they were satisfied with progress of the boulevard construction and discussed further steps towards moving Warsaw closer to the Vistula and providing citizens with new attractive recreation areas. A unique photo, it is in all likelihood the only preserved picture of Starzyński and Kulski, two friends and colleagues, who had known each other since their service in the Polish Legions, interact with each other. The sculptural composition depicting the two visionaries of the great Warsaw aligns perfectly with the narrative of the great Warsaw, Warsaw of the future. To present-day residents and visitors, it will be a natural combination of the past and present and a spur to think about Warsaw and its identity.
The official unveiling ceremony is scheduled for autumn 2018.
